About Us
We at the North York Foot Clinic take pride in our expertise to help our patients, as we specialize in all things related to feet and ankles. We aim to put your comfort first and look forward to helping you soon!
Our beautiful space has a cozy reception area, three spacious examination rooms and an onsite lab. The lab is an essential component to our office, as it is where we can efficiently modify, adjust and recover your foot orthotics, perform shoe stretches, etc.
The Importance of Foot Care
Unfortunately, the care and keeping of our feet often falls below the wayside. However, it is crucial that as early as possible in life, we start to take particularly good care of our feet.
Healthy foot maintenance includes, but is not limited to:
- Keeping skin & nails free from infection
- Keeping feet properly supported with orthotics
- Wear proper footwear
- Moisturize your feet daily
The care and keeping of our feet is just as important as any other part of the body. For any further questions, do not hesitate to schedule an appointment or give us a quick call.
FAQ's
The profession of chiropody is considered private practice in Ontario, therefore most foot clinics are not covered by OHIP. We operate more like your dentist or physiotherapist; if you have a private or workplace health insurance plan, we can help you determine your specific coverage. Ontario Works and Ontario Disability Support Program recipients may be eligible for orthotics and/or corrective foot wear. Chiropody is covered by Veteran’s Affairs Canada and Non-Insured Health Board.
In Canada, the two terms are interchangeable. Chiropodists are Canadian-trained podiatrists. (Podiatry is the study of foot, its function and its dysfunction.) In Canada, most bone surgeries are performed by orthopedic surgeons, where as in the US, a podiatrist is also a foot surgeon licensed to practice bone surgeries.
In Ontario, a chiropodist is someone who trained for almost four years after university to deal with the feet and foot issues. He or she assesses and manages foot and lower limb disorders, injuries, infections and local manifestations of systemic conditions like diabetes. Chiropodists can prescribe some topical and oral medications within their scope of practice to treat foot problems.
